Postdoctoral researcher in X-ray astrophysics at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA GSFC)
I study X-ray binary (XRB) populations in nearby galaxies, with a particular focus on the nature of the compact objects in XRB systems and how XRB populations are linked to host galaxy parameters. I use data from a variety of X-ray satellite telescopes, and authored a successful large program NuSTAR proposal focused on the XRB population of the southern disk of the Andromeda Galaxy totaling 825 ks. I am also interested in future X-ray telescopes such as NewAthena. I'm a member of the Compact Objects (wg4) and Transients and Multi-Messenger Astrophysics (wg5) working groups in the NewAthena Science Community (NASC), and within the compact objects working group I am co-leading a science objective focused on population studies of compact objects in external galaxies.
I am also generally interested in physics and astronomy education, particularly the experiences of neurodivergent students in physics at the undergraduate level, although I have not participated in any PER/AER research thus far.
